Robyn Francis is returning to the USA for the first time since 1986, when she presented at IPC-2 (Breitenbush and Olympia), and co-taught the first women’s PDC on Whitby Island, WA. Since then Robyn has been at the forefront of Permaculture innovation throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia, where she has conducted over 100 PDC’s, plus specialist programs for professional development and vocational training, and keynote presentations at international conferences.
Robyn Francis is well known for her extensive work in permaculture since 1984: as a teacher, designer, presenter, writer, editor of the Permaculture International Journal (’87-92) & founding director of Permaculture International Ltd. She has taught and consulted in USA, Germany, New Zealand, India, Bali & many parts of Australia including work with Aboriginal communities.
In this lecture Robyn Francis presents an inspiring case study of her village of Nimbin in Northern NSW Australia as an example of Permaculture working at a community level. The local bioregion boasts over 40 intentional communities and the village has been at the cutting edge of social experimentation and environmental innovation for over 30 years. Learn how she has worked with her community as a Permaculture consultant for eco-developments and local government, influencing state planning laws, facilitating participatory design, and establishing a Permaculture training centre and bioregional campus.
